Maine Education Plan

I was sent this press release today from the Maine State Department of Education. It's a worthy read. The State of Maine is trying to listen and make education for our kids more "user friendly". I'm not sure what will change, but I'm encouraged that the people at the state level aren't so recalcitrant that they can't hear the rumbling around them. Having figured out that No Child Left Behind translates into No Child Permitted to Advance, we are searching for a solution to education that prepares students to make their way in the world and that holds schools accountable for that education. Of course it's not a magic bullet, but we're off to a great start.
